Mikri Vigla Beach has ideal wind- and kite-surfing conditions. Two wind-and kite surfing schools provide lessons and equipment hire.
During the season, the village of Mikri Vigla has two well stocked supermarkets and a range of traditional tavernas.
Out of season, Naxos town, about 20 minutes driving distance, has some excellent supermarkets and a wide range of shops. For general freedom and mobility, car rental is recommended.
Naxos has ship connections with Pireus/Athens and many other islands, including Paros, Santorini (Thyra), Mykonos and Creta. There are also regular flights to the Athens airport.
Naxos is the largest and more fertile Cycladic island, with an exceptionally variable landscape. Since ancient times Naxos has been famous for its marble and agricultural products.
Citrus liqueur and different kinds of local cheese stand out for their quality and flavour.
